Biomechanics Consultation

ONE-TIME FEE $150

The core foundation of the field of biomechanics is the study of the mechanical laws relating to the movement or structure of living organisms. Essentially, an attempt to divine a deeper understanding of what occurs at the intersection of biology and physical mechanics. This is by no means a new concept, but as as our collective scientific understanding of the human body continues to grow, it has become increasingly easier to apply this knowledge to to betterment of our everyday lives.

And don’t just take our word for it, in recent years the study of biomechanics has been able to do everything from determining why soccer players who grow up playing barefoot are less prone to injury, to allowing elite athletes like LeBron James to treat debilitating career-threatening injuries. It's also no coincidence that Australia, considered by many to be the birthplace of sports science, consistently produces the best swimmers in the world.

Here at Bay Area Biomechanics, our consultants apply the tenets of this scientific method to the world of fitness, observing how mechanical aspects of movement like force vectors, joint torques, center of mass/pressure, base of support, etc., could potentially be the root of your debilitating injury or the area in which you are limiting your full athletic potential. Unlike your run-of-the-mill personal trainer, our consultation is tailored specifically to your unique needs.

Two factors must be considered when training to optimize sports performance: the sports specific performance requirements (strength, power, endurance, flexibility, balance, speed, and agility); and the individual needs of the athlete. We believe that an athlete’s best ability is their availability, therefore all training is centered on addressing potential injury mechanisms and promoting injury resilience.

Bay Area Biomechanics provides clients with a comprehensive training experience that begins by reinforcing efficient movement mechanics, improving kinesthetic awareness, and restoring muscular function and balance. These functional gains can then be applied to sports specific movements and exercises designed to maximize muscular power output and performance during competition. We offer the premiere sports performance training experience for elite, recreational, and youth athletes of the Bay Area.

Injury Recovery

Recovery from any injury, acute or chronic, is dependent on identifying and eliminating the injury mechanism. By analyzing movement mechanics and assessing the relative strength of muscle groups, Bay Area Biomechanics works to identify injury mechanisms and eliminate them using corrective exercise programs. We work to reinforce appropriate movement mechanics, improve kinesthetic awareness, and restore muscular function and balance.

Once the injury mechanism has been eliminated, injury symptoms dissipate and proper function can be restored. Traditional approaches to injury recovery such as surgery, medication, and physical therapy may fail to completely eliminate injuries and restore function because they are focused on alleviating symptoms. This leaves the underlying cause of the symptoms, the injury mechanism, unaddressed. We provide an alternative approach to injury recovery for elite, recreational, and youth athletes of the Bay Area.
